RhinoJungle

The jungle where all Rhino animals live

Hi,

I made a short tube (basically to house a bearing) and made a block-instance from it, exported it and imported it again in different layers. The properties show that the instances belong to the respective layer. but when i switch the layer, in which I constructed the block-instance to OFF, all the instances vanish.

I deleted the blocks and imported them again for no help. What do I have to do?

I use Rhino Version 5.0 (5.1.2012.110, 10.01.2012) (Beta)

Best regards,

You are mixing up the layer current when the instance is created, with the layer the objects are really on. Lets say I draw a circle on Layer 1 a box on Layer 2, and make a block that includes both. Noe I make Layer 3 current, insert the block, copy the block instance, and using Properties, I change one instance to layer 4.

If I turn off Layer 1, the red circles drawn on layer 1 will go away because that's the layer they are drawn on. After turning Layer 1 back on, If I turn off layer 3, one of the block instances will go away because the layer the instance is referenced to is off.

Objects are always on layers. A block instance reference can be on a different layer (or not) as your needs dictate.
