How to make a material with a sparkle/flake finish?

These are for the version of vray for 3ds Max , C4D, etc. and are NOT compatible with the vRay plugins for Rhino and SketchUp. As of now, there is no translation tool.

Hey Dan,

 

I already assumed this material is made for 3ds Max or other modeling software. Do you have any advice how to build this material? Thanks.

I tried to make a similar material recently. No luck so far. Will let you know if  get any useable results.

The material was created in the Vray for 3DS Max format (.mat) file, not the .Vismat file format that is needed for VfR.  The best bet is to just use the jpgs that you were able to download from that .ZIP file and create your own version of the material.  Adding the proper color, a general guess at the reflection IOR, etc.

I am not aware of any plug in or file converter to convert a .mat to a .vismat (although I can't imagine it'd be THAT hard to do if someone had the programming experience, time, and desire).

Sorry I can't offer a better solution.
