The jungle where all Rhino animals live

I've tried importing images in several of the correct formats for 4.0 without success. I need to import some two-dimensional images from the internet or scanned images, assign points on the flat image, manipulate their z locations, create curves and then loft a surface over them to create 3D items.

Can't find information saying that this is possible but believe it must be. Early in the Level 1 Training Manual there was an image of a pear that was outlined and then made 3D. This seems similar to what I'm wanting to do. Can anybody give this fellow some directions and help?

In Rhino: View/Background bitmap/Place should do what you want.

There's quite a good tutorial here:

Thank you very much for the help, Billy! Images imported just as hoped and I can't wait to begin creating my 3Ds.

type in pic or picture frame into the command line and follow the instructions....I usually use jpg for this but there a a number of other formats supported.
also you could type background bitmap into the command line or even just the first few letters ie ...bac

there are tool bars, in the drop down tool bar list for background bit map.
Im not so sure about picture frame....as i usually just use the command line.
hope this helps.
cheers
ps there is rhino on board help for both these functions just use the index.
