RhinoJungle

The jungle where all Rhino animals live

Hi everyone.
I'm looking for a tutorial or any good tips to achieve the "Pave" command mostly used in Jewellery modelling, I think it is a very interesting command and I really hope that could face the light in a new Rhino version, the actual array on surface does distribute a selected object covering the entire surface with an equal distance and distribution. I mean I know that most of the plugins out there are basically a big macro script to achieve the goals but I won't bet on it..

Anyone tips?

Cheers and have a good Rhino day ; )

Hi Marco,
I've only been working with Rhino for about a year. But I've found that ArrayCrvOnSrf works relatively well. A cool plugin is ArrayCrvPlus. So is Armadillo.

Pat Schmidt has a tutorial on YouTube about creating pave style settings and cutters.

Chris Botha has a DVD available with at least one video which details some basic pave.

Hope this helps. Gene
Hi Gene and thank you so much for your kind reply and links, I'm in fact very interested to move into some Script design myself, the ArrayCrvPlus looks indeed very interesting and I was already considering 'Paving' extracting Isocurves from the surface and operate with an Array along a Curve on surface..well it's manual paving and it may not be very accurate but.., I'm sure this plugin will come handy and so the CD from Chris, I think I may splash out on this....I'm not a jewellery design myself but I'm getting hooked more and more by jewel design as a form of passion....anyway.

it's a splendid Rhino community....
Hi Marco,

You should contact Brian DiNola at JBD Studio. He's been putting together some jewelery tools for Rhino. If you go to his website, then click the "Programming" link, scroll to the bottom of the page. You will see an example of a gem layout tool.

If you contact him, he may have something done already, or may be able to put something together for you.

Hope this helps,

Thanks, I was sure that I could find a right answer to my question, there is so much to learn and practice and so little time...the coding tool is very interesting indeed as for the Armadillo plugin (not far from the ArrayCrvPlus but I think it has more features....)

Thanks again ; ) I'm an happy camper
