too much default reflection

Can you upload an example?

This is a phenomenon that occurs in nature called color bleeding, so if you get rid of it completely, your results will actually start to look a bit flat and unrealistic.  If you are trying to control it a bit more, try looking at the Color mapping options, reduce the amount of reflection on the floor material, or look at reducing the multiplier of the light.

Without seeing an actual image, I can't say for sure which is the best way to handle your particular situation, but those would be my initial suggestions.

Thanks for your suggestions, Matt. I will upload the picture as soom as possible and look at the color mapping options, for they are new to me. The floor has only a diffuse layer and the light has already been reduced.

Hello everybody,

 

Matt asked me to add an example of the situation, but in the mean time the problem has been fixed. The picture shows just an empty room that will serve as background for some furniture.

I tried several options, but what really helped was to decrease the saturation of the floor bitmap and to increase the Fresnel IOR value of the floor material. Nevertheless I would prefer to be able to adjust the amount of reflection itself.

Hi Jasper

You can decrease the reflection of the floor material by changing the fresnel color. In V-Ray for Rhino white color is 100% reflective and Black color is 100% matte. SO closer to black produce less reflection. Other thing that you can do to reduce the bleeding effect is decrease the value of the saturation option in the "Indirect illumination" panel.

Hi everybody,

 

It took some time, sorry for that, but now I have made two good examples. On picture 1 the floor and the wall reflect nothing, they are completely matt (Fresnel color 0).  Nevertheless you will see some colorbleeding, for the wall still has an orange glow.

Fernando suggested also to diminish the GI saturation and this has indeed a remarkable effect, as you will see on picture 2. The other adjustments are the same.
