The jungle where all Rhino animals live

I'm extremely new to Rhino and the people I bought it from sold it as a package with a touch probe. They made it sound like you plugged the points info into Rhino and it took care of the rest. I quickly found out that was not true!!

Can anyone refer me to an affordable plugin that can help or give me some pointers as to where to start doing it using Rhino alone?

Nobody knows how to do this?

I've been meaning to find a good solution for this too but Rhino is not a "from points to surface" modeller. There are some plugins I believe but they looked pretty much embryonic to me so I never tried them.

I work with point clouds all the time using a plugin called Pointools, mostly on architetural stuff, but there's no reason it couldn't be used on the smaller items you must be working with using the touch probe. There are a couple of automatic surfacing tools in there (pipe from a point selection and plane through a point selection) but generally you just use it to display sections through a pointcloud and trace off the detail you need, and model from the curves you draw. It's about £800 and is available for Rhino 4, but they were bought by Bentley (MicroStation) about a year ago and it's not clear if they will be developing the plugin further, which is a shame. I think it is still being sold. The trial runs for 15 hours I think. You also asked in another post about training - I found the Form vs Shape tutorials from Hydralic Design to be really good, and he does online training as well, but start with the Level I and Level II training that comes with Rhino.
