RhinoJungle

The jungle where all Rhino animals live

Hello All,

I am trying to learn grasshopper through the e-book by  Zubin Khabazi from the gh website, and am having difficulties following some of the examples because they are based on an earlier version. In particular I am trying to create a point grid. The book instructs you to create this by (vector>point>grid rectangular). However in the latest version of gh there is a seperate panel for grids. When I place a grid rectangular, cells are created but there are no points. The only way I have been able to obtain points is by decomposing the ouput of the grid into a point component. What is the best way to create a point grid? Please let me know. Thanks

Nicholas

The easiest way to do this is to insert a Series component (Logic>Sets>Series) then using two Number Sliders (Params>Special>Number Slider) plug those into the N and C inputs for the Series components. Leave the S input set to 0. Then insert a Point XYZ component (Vector>Point>Point XYZ). Plug the output from the Series into the X, Y, and, if you want, also the Z inputs to Point XYZ. Make sure you set the Point XYZ component for Cross Reference by right-clicking on the middle of the component, otherwise you will end up with only a diagonal configuration of points in the X and Y axis. Play with the number sliders for the inputs on the Series components. N will change the spacing between the points and C will control the size of the overall grid.I'll attach a snapshot of my setup but it's pretty straight forward.

By the way, I'm using version 060059, which I believe is the latest build.

Hope this helps.
