Hallmark / Logo application

Hi, does anyone know of a tutorial for adding a simple hallmark or logo? Does not have to be specific to jewelry....Looking to add a "stamp" to some of my pieces, mostly on an indie or rounded surface. Any help you can provide would be great.

Hi Bill
You can go about adding a recessed logo a few different ways. I find the fastest way, for myself anyway, is to create a solid from the planar logo art, then Boolean subtract it from the surface. Conversely, if you can flow the artwork onto the surface to be "stamped" it's very simple matter of splitting the surface with your artwork, then using offsetsrf with the solid option checked (you might have to flip uv's), then you'll need to extract and delete the top surface. Either way works easily and quickly, a few seconds to a couple minutes. Good Luck!

Hi Bill.
Model a stamp with your logo etc on it. Save it for future use. Import it into your 3d app and use boolean difference to stamp the mark. Then you can use the same imprint on all your work just as a gldsmith does in real life. Hope this helps.

Just a point that I missed earlier. Most Jewellers have at least 2 stamps/punches. One is curved to stamp the inside of rings and one is flat in order to stamp flat items. What I mean by that is you will need to layout your logo on a curve to emboss on a curved surface otherwise the beginning and end of the stamp will make a deeper impression than the middle on a concave surface and the opposite will be true on a convex one!
