The jungle where all Rhino animals live

When we decided to create the Jewelry Designers group, based on the community feedback, I had to face the problem of selecting a logo for the group. My goal was to find a jewel that could be recognized as a symbol by all jewelry designers. To find the right jewel, I decided to look at the history and I searched the internet for Etruscan jewels. Etruscan was an ancient population living in what is now the Tuscany in Italy. Their civilization started long before the Ancient Romans. Etruscan were great jewelers and they made beautiful jewels. The jewel I selected is a ear-stud decorated with a rosette surrounded by concentric bands, globules and flowers. It is made of gold with vitreous glass paste insets. It dates 530–480 BC and is currently at the British Museum in London.

If you are interested you can read about this jewel and Etruscan jewelry on Wikipedia.

Do you think this ancient jewel may adequately represent the entire category "Jewelry Designers"?

Hi Franco,
I think the piece is gorgeous, but maybe something done by computer would be more apropiated for the identity of the group. It could be in this style, of course... Maybe a render of it....
Thanks for creating this group.
Any volunteer to create a modern rendering of this ancient jewel? I'll be happy to replace the logo!

Thank you Sean, this is absolutely great!

This was an outstanding pick. I lived in Italy for two years on the east cost , I had the chance to research and look over much of the ancient Designs and Jewelry made over the centuries there. This piece is great representation of how you can take simple geometric forms and combine them into a stunning piece its shows what the goldsmiths of the time were exploring style and fabrication of gold with the most basic of tooling. This is a good representation of the art and craft, we have come a long way from then,. I enjoy working gold by hand and still do. As gold and silversmiths we should always look back to see forward.
I like it Franco. It's nice to have a logo which reminds us of where our craft has come from and how skilled our forebears where.
I,d like to see a rendering of it but please don't replace it.
Laurie,
Did you see the rendering created by Sean Kenna and posted in this discussion thread?
I've just had a look. Sean has done a very nice job of it.
