When I was doing this project, I was new to Rhino, so I didn't even know about Grasshopper :)
I just knew Vray very well from SketchUp...
I placed about 10 of them by hand, grouped them and then copied&pasted&rotated the group :) that's why some of them are sinking a little bit - I didn't care about placing every little piece to the right position. The final dimensions are 9*4.5 cm at dad't business card, so no one can see this detail :).

have you placed the shavings by hand or some scatter plugin if it is available at all... maybe even grasshopper? ;)

Hi Dave, Thanks :) It is done with three curves, lofted between themselves and the rest is done via texture and displacement. Not complicated, am I right? :)
