Render shadows for composite

Does anyone know how you can use the alpha channel render function to render out the shadows your object casts on a surface without rendering the actual surface? Wondered if you can make a material not show up in the render. I want to render an object on a table with it's shadows but then shop it into a jpeg of a table in a room that I have. Thanks all, JSee More

"If it worked for VRay in V5 too, then that indicates a problem with their installer. They must be storing their volatile file in the \Program Files (x86)\ folders. They should maybe fix that in their final finished product.  JB"
