Hey Tweezer,
Howzit? What kind of object are you using for the diamond? homemade? off the shelf? tech gems? I have Matrix so I'm kinda lazy. Here is a pic of some dias from Matrix rendered in V-ray using a Box Studio HDRI environment with a Black r…
yes indeed yusuf was very kind to spend a lot of his time preparing this material collection for our members to use.

I do so understand.....mental ray is a very cool renderer.
hey I have found a very nice cad jewelery forum you may like to have a looksie. http://3dcadjewelry.com
very friendly bunch you may find it interesting...mostly cad/millers but quite a few cad printers lads too.
Hi Tweezer,
You asked me why I prefer using Studio Max for rendering instead of V-ray. Honestly I never tried V-ray. I have been using studio max for a long time now. I feel very confortable with it. It is extremely powerful -and very complicated also- but as long as I feel I can achieve any rendering I want and know how to get there, I will stick to it. It's like a car: I have a VW, always had one, kept on buying the latest models. you can tell me Honda will do the same or better, I like the VW. a matter of taste... and love!
Here is a 1 ct dia from matrix. Try import it and render up to see if there is any diff between the gem you already have and this one. Good luck! Let me know how it turns out.
ps. I hope I uploaded that correctly...looks like gibberish from here.
Howzit? Yeah...finished is rarely as neat and clean as the render. No final pic, but the customer loved it! You say long time hand patern maker, does that mean you carve wax or do you fabricate from sheet metal? Wax carving is actually my forte.
IN SAIGON, THERE IS NO JEWELRY DESIGN SCHOOL. SO I TRY TO LEARN THROUGH INTERNET AND WITH ONE VIETNAMESE TEACHER, HE KNOWS ALITTLE ABOUT RHINO. WHEN I FINISH HIGH SCHOOL, I WILL CHOOSE IT COURSE AS MY MAJOR IN COLLEGE.
add a refraction layer to the glass material? That or you could always make the glass model only a surface layer versus a sold so that light will pass through and not reflect off of the back side of the other side of the solid. I'm still pretty new…
