i made another test with back curved legs and box mapping,..and everiting is ok!?
The results may change when you move, scale or rotate the mapping widget.

I made a test ( see the image) with different type of shapes for legs and different types of projections for texture mapping
I think that the BOX projection is what you need!?

for correctly render the legs and the seat you must "divide" the solid,...you are right!;)

It is not neccessary to convert TSplines to Rhino nurbs to render the object with V ray!;)
